Editorial Policy

Every page on medipeds.net is written by us, and the facts on a card come out of our own product data: how the sock is knitted, what the cuff does, how many pairs are in the packet, which shoe sizes it is cut for, what colour it comes in, and the price.

What we do not print

No invented certificates, no laboratory results, no clinical trials, no award badges, no customer counts. We do not write that a sock improves circulation, reduces swelling, prevents an ulcer or lowers the risk of a clot. Those are claims about a body, and a catalogue is not the place they belong — not even when they are printed on the packet.

Where a page states something a reader would be right to check, the body that says it is named on the page. What a sock for a numb foot should be like is set out by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases: lightly padded, well fitting, seamless for preference, and not tight. What to look at on a foot each day is set out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Neither of them is talking about this brand, and neither are we when we quote them.

Photographs

A photograph on a card shows the sock itself. Feature panels with callouts printed into the picture are not published here, and neither is the printed packet of the compression sock: it carries claims in its pixels that this site does not make in its text, and a claim printed into a photograph is still a claim.

The comments we quote

Quoted comments are the honest words of the people who wrote them, trimmed for length and never reworded — which is also what the federal guides on endorsements require. A comment that makes a claim about health is not quoted here even when it is glowing, because a promise in somebody else's voice is still a promise on our page.

Prices

Figures come from our own catalogue update and are refreshed on a schedule set out on how we update the catalogue. Where a figure and the till disagree, the till is right.

Corrections

A mistake found is a mistake fixed on the page rather than argued about in a mailbox. Write to instep@medipeds.net.
